Review # 6: Come From Away

Welcome back to the Rock! I just saw a couple of more shows such as Come From Away and others that I will review soon. So let's check out one of the coolest shows on Broadway that was nominated Best Musical, Come From Away.

Plot: Come From Away was based on a real story. It's about planes coming from around the world that couldn't land in New York City on 9/11. Instead, the planes had to land in a small town on the northeast tip of North America called Newfoundland. It's a very small town and the people who lived there (the Newfoundlanders) had to help 38 planes worth of people. It both tells the story of the Newfoundlanders and the people who were on the planes. It was a beautiful story and I think everyone needs to hear it.

Characters: Everyone on the show was amazing. They all had a part playing different roles as the Newfoundlanders and the people who were on the plane. Some are very funny and then others are very alone and sad since they can't go back home. They all do a great job feeling and showing the emotion of each character, such as Beverley, Beulah, Oz, and Nick. They all had a share in their parts of the story and it was great.

Songs: The songs were as great as the story. These songs are very catchy such as Welcome to the Rock, 38planes (reprise)/Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere, and the song that most people know from this musical, Me and the Sky. They are all great songs and once you listen to them you won't get them out of your head.

Sets: The sets are so cool. They mostly only used tables, chairs, and some other things but that was it. and it worked out really good. It kind of reminded me of the sets from Hamilton, so if you liked the Hamilton sets, I'm sure you'll love the Come From Away sets.

In all, Come From Away was amazing! I feel like it's more of a show for adults and teens because I feel like some young kids will not understand what's going on. So if you're looking for a more family-friendly musical check out Cats or Aladdin. In the end, it's a great show, so come see Come From Away on Broadway.
