Review # 19: Summer: The Donna Summer Musical

It has been a while since I did a review. Now I'm back to review Summer: The Donna Summer Musical.

Plot: The plot is based on the true story of Donna Summer's life. The plot focuses on three parts of Donna's personality. Duckling Donna, Disco Donna, and Diva Donna. Each version of Donna tells a story, whether it's about the men in her life, her loving and caring family, or the money that she has to work hard for. Whatever Donna is on stage you know it will be interesting. The musical even features her hit songs like Hot Stuff, Last Dance, and She Works Hard For The Money. I really can't say a lot about the plot since her is her life story, however, the way they told the story moved me and everyone else in the audience.

Characters: Each Donna was amazing to see perform. Duckling Donna brought the younger aspect of Donna Summer, showing people that it's hard growing up. Disco Donna brought the disco age version of Donna Summer, sings many of her greatest hits. Diva Donna brought the sassy version of Donna Summer, but she also brought up some amazing points in the show. I also enjoyed seeing Donna's husband, Bruce Sudano come to life and how their relationship blossomed. Overall the cast was wonderful to see preform.

Songs: Most of the songs in the musical were some of Donna Summer's greatest hits. Such as The Queen is Back, Hot Stuff, I Feel Love, Last Dance, and She Works Hard For The Money. The way the performed the songs were amazing, and it just made to want to get up and dance.

Sets: The sets were amazing and set like a whole new style. Similar to the ones such as Be More Chill, Mean Girls, and Anastasia. Protections showing were Donna was going and even tells you what year it's in. I even liked how the set up the stage right was you first get in the theater. Overall the sets were great!

Overall Summer: The Donna Summer Musical was a fun show. Even though it is not on Broadway anymore, it is going on tour. Adults should totally go see the show. Also, fans of Donna Summer's music should see it as well. You might want to take some teens that aren't into that kinda music to see something else like Dear Evan Hansen or the upcoming Be More Chill. The show has some cursing and some topics that are not fitting for younger viewers. Take kids to see shows such as Frozen or The Lion King. Even though Summer isn't playing in New York anymore, it's definitely worth checking it out on tour. So go see Summer: The Donna Summer Musical.
