Review # 25: The Cher Show

Do you believe in life after love? Well maybe after my 25th review on this blog you will! So here is my review of The Cher Show.

Plot: The Cher Show is about Cher's life story told by the three versions of herself (Babe, Lady, and Star). Each version, tells their part of the story with the help of the others. They tell you the highlights of Cher's personal life and career. They also tell you how she meets Sonny, to how she became a well-known icon. Her story is incredible and touching. There isn't any story that shows female empowerment like this one. Overall, The Cher Show is a wonderful journey and a perfect match for the Broadway stage.

Characters: What I enjoy about each version of Cher is that they aren't a clone of each other. They have their own personality that makes up who Cher is. Babe is a bit more shy than the others. Lady is has a comedic side of her. Lastly, Star shows off how powerful Cher can be. Each Cher is stunning in their own way, and how they interact with one another doesn't make the show awkward at all. It actually gives us a better understanding of Cher. Other characters such as Sonny and Cher's mother, Georgia Holt, were amazing to watch as well. Overall, the characters in The Cher Show were beautifully written.

Songs: Like most Jukebox musicals, The Cher Show has songs from Cher's greatest hits, such as 'The Beat Goes On', 'If I Could Turn Back Time', 'Shoop Shoop Song', 'I Got You Babe', 'Bang, Bang', and of course, her famous song 'Believe'. I enjoyed how each song fits into what is going on in Cher's life. Overall, all the songs have a great beat and sometimes you just want to get up and dance to certain songs she performs.

Sets: All the sets in the show were so fun to watch. I liked how the sets had different points of view, especially before the song, 'I Got You Babe'. Another thing I liked about the sets is that they made them similar to the T.V. shows Cher used to be on, such as The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour and Cher's T.V. show. Overall, the sets were beautiful to watch in real life.

Overall, The Cher Show is a perfect show to see, even if you're not familiar with Cher or her music. I recommend adults and fans of Cher to see this musical. Teenagers, especially girls, should see this spectacular show with a strong female lead. Children, however, would most likely see something else. The Cher Show does involve cursing. Plus, kids might find this show to be a bit boring. Instead, take them to see Aladdin or The Lion King which are kid-friendly shows. Sadly, The Cher Show won't be here for long, it's run ends on August 18th. So don't wait to turn back time! Go see The Cher Show on broadway.
