Review # 17: The Phantom Of The Opera

So a few days ago I saw the 30th anniversary of The Phantom of the Opera for the 2nd time. So here is my review of it!

Plot: The storyline is similar to the 1910 novel and 2004 live-action movie with the same name. The story is set in the 1880's, where an opera house in Paris is now under new management. However, the two new owners of the opera house just discovered that there is a Phantom or Opera Ghost, haunting the opera house. Carlotta, the female lead in the opera house's next show, Hannibal, is tired of the phantom haunting the opera house, and she decides to quit the show. However, a young girl named Christine who was a dancer in the show steps up and takes a chance to audition for Carlotta's role. She says that she is practicing from a well-taught teacher. She gets the role and she rocks it. After the show, her childhood friend, Raoul, falls in love with her. He tells her that she did an amazing job and that he wants dinner with her tonight. However, Christine tries to tell him that she can't and that she needs to practice with her singing teacher. After Raoul leaves, The Phantom comes to practice with her. The Phantom tells Christine that he is in love with her. However, Christine doesn't feel the same way since she sees what's behind his mask. However, this doesn't stop the Phantom from trying to win Christine. Meanwhile, Carlotta returns and wants a leading role in the next show, however, the Phantom does not want that since he worked so hard with Christine. He causes trouble during the performance with lead to many people getting hurt since he told the owners that he wanted Christine to play the leading role. While the Phantom is dealing with the show, Christine and Raoul confess their love to each other. Will cause more trouble when he finds out about Christine and Raoul? Or will he win the heart of Christine? Find out in The Phantom Of The Opera. The story was so interesting as you see one of the most beloved love triangle stories. The story is totally worth checking out.

Characters: Most of the characters felt like regular, real live people. The Phantom was really terrifying however, he also had real emotions like being depressed or being in love. Christine showed Curiosity as she wondered what the Phantom's next move was. Raoul brought the love and the kindness to Christine. The others like Carlotta and the owners were like real people and the dancer showed how scared when the Phantom did something. The cast of Character where so amazing and like regular people.

Songs: The songs are the highlight of the whole show. Some numbers like Think of Me, Masquerade, Angel of Music, The Music of the Night, and who can forget the most common song in the whole show, 'The Phantom of the Opera'. Yup, he has his own theme song! The songs are very easy to enjoy and sing along. The songs are totally worth seeing performed live.

Sets: The sets in this show are spectacular. The way they make it look like Christine and the Phantom are going on a boat ride is crazy! Also, it is insane how they make a chandelier rise and fall right above the audience. These sets are perfect and totally worth seeing.

Overall the show is amazing. Kids (8 and above or however they handle scary things), teens, and adults should go see this show. Fans of the book and movie should totally go see it as well. Also for people who are visiting New York should totally see this wonderful long-running show. So go see The Phantom Of The Opera.
