Review # 15: The Lion King

Fifteenth Review!!! A few days ago I saw the 20th anniversary, of Disney's The Lion King, and here are my thoughts.

Plot: The plot is similar to the 1994 movie with the same name. It is also based on Shakespeare's Hamlet.  If you don't know the story, the story is about a young lion cub named Simba. Simba only wants to explore the kingdom and have fun with his best friend, Nala. Simba is next in line to become king, after his father Mufasa. Mufasa's brother, Scar isn't pleased with the fact that he will never become king. So Scar creates a plan to kill both Mufasa and Simba. However, he only ends up killing Mufasa. Scar tells Simba to run away since Simba believes he is the one to blame for the death of his father. Simba meets Timon and Pumbaa, who act like father figures to Simba and shows him the way of Hakuna Matata (which means no worries). As Simba grows up he tries to forget his about his past and tries to live a carefree life. However, the past returns to him as Nala tells him that his uncle Scar has put the lion pride in danger. Will Simba learn from his past? Or will he run away from it? Find out in Disney's The Lion King. It's such a beautiful story and so life-like, even though it is with animals.

Characters: All the characters were fun and loveable just as in the movie. Both young and adult Simba were perfect as they brought the feel to the show. Mufasa had an amazing singing voice. Zazu and Rafiki brought the sass. Timon and Pumbaa brought the fun. Both young and adult Nala were caring and kind. And Scar was one of those villains you love to hate. All of the characters were well written and brought the same joy as in the movies.

Songs: All the songs were the same as the movie, they also added new songs such as He Lives In You, The Madness of King Scar, and Chow Down. Sometimes some of the characters would mention another Disney movie with one of their songs. Overall the songs were cute and enjoyable.

Sets: The sets were the shows one weakness. The props and costumes were fine, but the overall background could have been better. Since this show has been going on for 20 years, the could have done some updates. They could have used modern technology to make it look like the sets of some other moderns shows. Overall the sets could have been better.

Overall The Lion King was cute. Other than the sets, the show was amazing. I would recommend taking kids, teens, and adults because it was so good. I would also recommend fans of the movie and fans of Disney should come to see it too. So come to see Disney's The Lion King.
